Description

Large bird study with contemporary as well as vintage taxidermy specimens mounted on 32"x40" white mat in black ebony frame measuring 33"x41"x3.5" deep.

No organism was harmed for the creation of this piece.

This is a one-of-kind assemblage put together exclusively for Gold Bug.

Like all of the organisms in the Reclamation line, these specimens died of natural or incidental causes in captivity or were part of a museum collection before being purchased by Christopher to be used in his art. In fact, Christopher utilizes a network of hundreds of museums, zoos, breeders and other organizations dedicated to the husbandry and preservation of animals to acquire rare or exotic specimens that would have otherwise be discarded. Each piece he creates is unique and exquisitely prepared, persevered, and hermetically sealed to last a lifetime.  With the sleek, minimalist background employed, the viewer awakens to facets of design such as texture, color, structure or pattern that may have been elusive in its natural habitat.
