Artist: Kelley Benes
Materials: natural pin clam shell, vintage glass eye, human hair, resin, watercolor, chalk pastel, polymer clay, crystals, freshwater pearls
This piece is made with natural shell, tiny cracks and chips are normal and to be expected, and vintage glass doll eyes with human hair lashes—flesh portion hand sculpted, painted and varnished. This piece measures 3.5” wide, 7” long and 2” thick, it stands 9.5” tall in its removable brass stand.
On top of making unsettling objects made up of teeth, shells, eggs, eyes, and human hair, Kelley is also a practicing illustrator, mixed media artist, and taxidermist. To view the entirety of her collection available here at Gold Bug, click here.
